Who Makes Vending Machines for Big Brands? The Factory Behind 50,000 Machines

Vending machine cabinets in production at the Futureino factory in Guangzhou, where machines for global brands and distributors are built

Many of the custom vending machines made for global brands come from Futureino, a factory group in Guangzhou, China. For 15 years it built machines only under other companies' names: for brands such as Pepsi, IKEA, Skittles, Hello Kitty and the arcade maker LAI Games, and for many of the largest vending distributors in the world. Around 50,000 of its machines are operating today. About two years ago the factory opened its own brand, Futureino, so that any buyer can order from the same catalogue.

Fifteen years with someone else's name on the front

Most people who have bought a vending machine from a distributor have never heard of the factory that built it. That is how the industry works. A distributor in Europe or the United States runs the sales side, puts its own brand on the cabinet and sells the machine as its own. A brand running a campaign wants its logo on the machine, not ours. The factory stays invisible, usually under an NDA.

We worked that way for 15 years. Everything left the plant with another company's name on it, and that suited us: the work was steady, the clients were large, and every project taught the engineers something new. Our biggest distributor clients still order on that basis. One in Europe takes 80+ machines a month, one in the United States 50+ a month and one in Saudi Arabia 30+ a month.

The result is a factory most people cannot name and a lot of people have used. Around 50,000 machines built by us are operating around the world today.

Which brands has the factory built for?

The ones we can name publicly include Pepsi, IKEA, Skittles, Hello Kitty, M&M, Netflix and LAI Games. Most of our corporate work is under NDA, so the public list is much shorter than the real one.

Brand work is a different job from building a standard machine. The cabinet has to carry the brand's look exactly, down to the colour and the lighting. The screen, the sounds and the way the product reaches the customer are designed for one campaign or one store concept. A project can be a few showpiece units or a full production run, and the launch date rarely moves. Over the years that has added up to 100+ custom projects and 3,000+ custom machines, with about 40 new machine models coming out of our R&D every year.

Four custom vending machine exterior concepts: a cotton candy machine, a protein shake bar, a snack and drink cabinet and a beauty products machine
Exterior design concepts. On a brand project the cabinet, the graphics and the screen are drawn for that brand before anything is built.

The same team builds branded vending machines for companies of every size, not only for household names. If you are planning one, what a custom vending machine costs explains how a project is priced, design fee included, and the best custom vending machine manufacturers compares us with the other builders.

Why the factory finally put its own name on a machine

For years the only way to buy one of our machines was through someone else. A first-time operator or a mall owner paid a distributor's margin on top of ours, and when something broke, the question went through the distributor before it reached anyone who could answer it.

About two years ago we opened Futureino as a brand with an open catalogue. The machines, the production lines and the quality control are the same ones the brand work runs on, now available to anyone at factory-direct prices. About half of what we produce is still corporate and white-label work. A quarter goes to existing vending, entertainment and retail businesses, and a quarter to new operators buying their first machine. You can see the full range in the robotic vending machine catalogue.

Distributors who want the old arrangement can still have it. White-label vending machines carry your brand, your language and your payment setup, and the distributor programme sets out how the partnership works.

What after-sales looks like when the factory answers

Distributors rarely stay with a factory for years because of the price of the first order. They stay because of what happens once the machine is in the field. This is the part we built to Western standards on purpose, because it is where Chinese factories have traditionally been weakest.

Most faults never need a visit. They tend to be settings rather than broken parts, and a technician connected to the machine can often fix them during the call. Futureino machines average one fault every three months. In our experience across the industry, a machine from a typical Chinese factory has one about once a month, and around 1 in 10 arrives with a problem. Ours is about 1 in 75, and when it happens we take responsibility for it.

The full warranty terms, and what to demand from any supplier, are in what warranty and support you should get with a vending machine.

From order to installation

Brand clients and first-time buyers go through the same sequence:

  1. A 30 to 40% deposit starts production.
  2. Your machine is built in under 30 days.
  3. We show you the finished machine on a video call.
  4. It passes quality control to a US-level standard.
  5. You pay the balance.
  6. We pack and ship it, and you can track it the whole way.
  7. Installation and training videos arrive with it, and we support you through installation.

If paying a deposit to a factory overseas worries you, that is reasonable, and how to pay a deposit safely walks through exactly what protects you.

With you from one machine to your own brand

The brands we build for did not start with thousands of machines, and neither do most of our customers. The usual path is one machine in one strong location, a second and third machine type once the first one pays, then a fleet, and for some, machines that carry their own name.

We stay through every step. That means help choosing the right machine for your venue, a custom wrap or screen once the business has its own look, and white-label production when it is ready to sell machines itself. The factory that builds your first machine is the one that builds your hundredth, and by then it already knows your history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Has Futureino built vending machines for Pepsi?

Yes. Futureino has built custom machines for Pepsi, and for IKEA, Skittles, Hello Kitty, M&M, Netflix and the arcade maker LAI Games, among others. Most of its corporate projects are under NDA, so the public list is short. In total the factory has completed 100+ custom projects and produced 3,000+ custom machines.

Why did nobody know the Futureino name before?

For 15 years the factory worked only as an OEM manufacturer, building machines that carried distributors' and brands' names instead of its own. That is normal in the vending industry. About two years ago it opened the Futureino brand with an open catalogue, so operators can buy directly from the factory at factory prices.

Can a small buyer order from the same factory as the big brands?

Yes. The Futureino catalogue is open to any buyer, from a first-time operator ordering one machine to a distributor ordering dozens a month. Every order goes through the same production lines and quality control as the brand work, and every buyer gets an account manager after the sale.

What after-sales support does Futureino provide?

Every buyer gets an account manager after the sale, a ticket system for faults, and English-speaking technicians on live chat and video calls who can connect to the machine remotely. A team of engineers and technicians covers mechanical, electrical and software issues. The full one-year warranty includes parts and replacement of components that fail internally.

Can Futureino build vending machines under my own brand?

Yes. Building under other companies' names is how the factory worked for 15 years, and it is still about half of what it produces. Distributors get white-label machines with their own brand, language and payment setup, and brands get fully custom designs. The largest distributor clients order 30 to 80+ machines a month this way.
