Vending Machine Power Requirements: Watts, Amps and Plugs by Country

Across the 20 machines on our published spec sheet, power draw runs from 25 watts for the Perfume Station to 2,488 watts for the Cotton Candy Robot. Thirteen of the twenty draw 500 watts or less and plug into any normal outlet. The other seven heat or cool something, and those are the ones that need a conversation with the venue's electrician before the machine lands. At 220V the whole lineup fits inside a standard 13A plug. At 110V, five of the twenty do not fit a standard 15A circuit.

The number that matters is amps, not watts

Watts tell you what the electricity costs. Amps tell you whether the breaker trips. Those are different questions and buyers usually ask the first one when they should be asking the second. The same 2,200 watt machine draws 20A at 110V and 10A at 220V, so the identical appliance is either a site-planning problem or a non-event depending on which grid it lands on.

North America runs a nominal 120V and Europe a nominal 230V, but machine spec sheets across this industry, ours included, still label the two configurations 110V and 220V. That is convention rather than precision. What you should take from it is the ratio: same machine, half the current, at the higher voltage.

Every machine, watts and amps

These figures come from the factory spec sheet verified in August 2026. They are peak draw for the machine as built, sorted from hungriest to lightest.

The pattern is not subtle. Anything that spins hot sugar, pops corn or heats water sits at the top. Anything that moves a product from a shelf to a hatch sits at the bottom. A claw machine and a blind box machine use roughly what a desktop computer uses.

What this means on a North American 110V site

Five machines draw more than 15A at 110V: the Cotton Candy Robot at 23A, both Boost bars at 20A, the Popcorn Bot at 18A and the Cotton Candy Truck at 16A. A standard North American branch circuit is 15A or 20A, and under the National Electrical Code a load that runs for three hours or more is treated as continuous and limited to 80% of the breaker rating. A 15A breaker therefore gives you 12A of usable continuous load, and a 20A breaker gives you 16A.

Run that arithmetic and the picture is clear. Fifteen of the twenty machines sit at 12A or below and are fine on an ordinary shared outlet. The Cotton Candy Truck at 16A and the Popcorn Bot at 18A want a dedicated 20A circuit. The two Boost bars at 20A and the Cotton Candy Robot at 23A want a dedicated 30A circuit, or the 220V configuration if the site can offer it. None of this is exotic work, but it is work, and it is much cheaper to schedule before the crate arrives than after.

Europe, the UK, the Gulf and anywhere else on 220V

The highest current anywhere in our lineup at 220V is 11A, on the Cotton Candy Robot. British plugs to BS 1363 are fused at 13A, and the standard European domestic and commercial socket is rated at 16A. Every machine we make fits inside both with headroom. That single fact is why European and Gulf operators rarely mention electrical work at all, while North American operators bring it up in the first call.

Two caveats worth stating anyway. First, headroom on the plug does not mean headroom on the circuit: a 2,488W machine sharing a circuit with a coffee machine and a fridge is still a tripped breaker waiting for a busy Saturday. Second, in most jurisdictions a machine installed in a public space belongs on a circuit protected by a residual current device. Your electrician will know the local rule; the machine does not care either way.

Say the voltage before production, not after

The machine is built and configured for one voltage at the factory, and that choice is confirmed with you during the specification step, before the deposit starts production. Changing your mind after the machine is crated means either swapping components at your end or shipping it back, and neither is a good afternoon. Along with voltage, tell us the plug type your country uses, because fitting the right lead in Guangzhou costs nothing and buying an adapter in a mall on opening day costs a morning.

If the site is a rented kiosk, a mall concourse or a gym, ask the venue two questions before you sign anything: what is on this circuit already, and who pays if it needs upgrading. Those two answers have killed more locations than any machine specification.

What it costs to run

Watts finally matter here, and they matter less than most people expect, because these machines idle far more than they run. A Popcorn Bot only draws its 2,000W during the roughly 90 seconds it is actually popping. A Perfume Station at 25W is closer to a phone charger than an appliance. The honest way to estimate a monthly bill is to multiply the kilowatts by the number of cycles you actually expect to sell, not by the hours the machine is switched on, and then to add the standby draw of the screen and the lights, which is what genuinely runs 24 hours. In practice electricity is one of the smallest lines in a vending machine's cost sheet, well behind rent, refills and the payment processor.

Certification is a separate question

Every machine we ship carries CE, and additional country-specific certificates can be obtained on request, with the cost carried by the client or by us on a large order. What CE does not do is certify your wiring. It covers the product you receive. Site checklist before the machine ships

Six things, and all six should be settled while the machine is still being built. Confirm the voltage and the plug type in writing. Confirm the amp draw of the specific model against the circuit that will feed it. Ask the venue what else shares that circuit. Decide whether a dedicated circuit is being run, and who pays for it. Check the socket is reachable from where the machine will stand, because a machine on an extension lead in a public space is a problem with every fire officer alive. Frequently Asked Questions

How many amps does a vending machine use?

It depends entirely on whether the machine heats or cools something. Across our published spec sheet of 20 machines, the range at 110V runs from 0.3A for the Perfume Station to 23A for the Cotton Candy Robot. Fifteen of the twenty sit at 12A or below, which a normal outlet handles.

Do I need a dedicated circuit for a vending machine?

For the heating machines on 110V, yes. Five of our twenty machines draw more than 15A at 110V, which is more than a standard North American branch circuit is rated for. On 220V nothing in the lineup exceeds 11A, so a dedicated circuit becomes a nice-to-have rather than a requirement.

Should I order the 110V or the 220V version?

Order the voltage your country actually runs, and tell us before production rather than after. The machine is configured for one or the other at the factory. If your site is in North America and you have a choice, the 220V configuration halves the current and takes the pressure off the circuit.

Will a Futureino machine work on a UK 13A plug?

Yes, for every machine in the current lineup. At 220V the highest draw anywhere in our spec sheet is 11A, on the Cotton Candy Robot, so a standard BS 1363 fused plug at 13A covers the whole range with headroom. Confirm the plug type you need at order time.

Does CE certification cover the electrical installation?

No. CE covers the machine as a product, not the wiring in the wall or the way it is connected on site. Every one of our machines carries CE, and additional country certificates can be arranged, but the circuit, the breaker and the residual current device are the venue's electrician's job.

Can a vending machine share an outlet with other equipment?

The low-draw machines can, the heating ones should not. A Perfume Station at 25W is invisible on any circuit. Put a 2,200W shake bar on the same circuit as a coffee urn in a break room and you will meet the breaker on the first busy morning.
